2005 Achievements

  • All cooperative departments completed 100% of Business Plan targeted safety meetings.
  • Employees received annual snow safety training.
  • Two Board Directors completed the Credentialed Cooperative Director
  • Training program through the Northwest Public Power Association, making a total of 5 certified CEC Board members.
  • All employees received career development and job skills enhancement training.
  • Continued positive relationship with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
  • Instituted 1st rate reduction in history of cooperative.
  • Achieved 100% key staff participation in ACRE (Action Committee for Rural Electrification) / CARE (Committee for the Advancement of Rural Electrification) Political Action Committee program.
  • Employees worked for 112,500 hours without a lost time accident.
    Received a Safety Award for 36,815 hours without a lost time accident from the Alaska Power Association.
  • Received a Communication in Excellence Award from the Northwest Public Power Association.
  • Achieved Field Customer Satisfaction rating of 88%.
  • Achieved Office Customer Satisfaction rating of 95%.
  • Received $3 million grant from the State for the Power Creek Hydroelectric Project.
  • Reduced diesel fuel dependency by 91.226 gallons in 2005 compared to 2004.
  • Reduced nitrogen oxide emissions into the air by 18%.
  • Year-end emissions for 2004 were 146.616 tons compared to year-end emissions for 2005 at 119.956 tons.
  • Achieved record hydro generation at 76.6%.
  • Achieved average diesel generation efficiency of 13.50 kilowatt hours per gallon.
  • Increased usage of hydroelectric generation has reduced the average cost per kWh by $.0879 as compared to all diesel generation.
  • Met all agency and environmental compliance requirements at hydroelectric and diesel facilities.
  • Unplanned outage hours per customer in 2005 were 3.584. The national average is 5.22 hours per customer. It is important to note that in 2000 the average outage hours per customer were 9.10.
  • Eyak remediation project nearly completed.
  • Upgraded Eyak Service Center.
  • Completed the overhead-to-underground conversion on Whitshed Road.
  • Last overhead road crossing in system was converted to underground.
  • Continued active employee volunteerism in community of approximately 4,000 hours.
