Clay Koplin: 28 Years of Service at Cordova Electric Cooperative

After 28 years of service, Clay Koplin will retire from Cordova Electric Cooperative (CEC). During his tenure, Clay helped guide Cordova’s transition to underground power lines, supported the cooperative’s move toward a power supply that is up to 83% hydropower, and helped facilitate significant growth in electric sales, particularly among seafood processors.

Clay has been with CEC for the majority of the cooperative’s history. He joined CEC in 1998 as Manager of Operations before eventually becoming CEO in 2007, serving in that capacity for the last 19 years. In addition to his leadership at CEC, Clay served on the Cordova City Council, as Cordova Chamber of Commerce Board President, completed two terms as mayor, and volunteered with Ducks Unlimited. He has also served on several statewide and federal boards and currently chairs the Alaska Energy Authority Board.

The Board extends their sincere thanks to Clay for serving as the longest-tenured CEO in CEC’s history and wishes him the very best in the future. The Board is already planning for CEC’s next chapter and is confident in the existing staff’s ability to keep the cooperative operating at its best during this time of transition.

As I transition away from being CEO, I am confident that Cordova will continue to be served by a capable and committed Board of Directors and world-class employees at every level.”
